A fusion of creamy butter chicken and layered cheesy lasagna that’s comforting, bold, and perfect for weeknight meals or make-ahead dinner parties.

  • 15 lasagna noodles
  • 3 boneless chicken breasts, cut into pieces
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/4 cup oil or butter
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 tbsp parmesan (optional)
  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp Kashmiri chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cumin-coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp dry fenugreek leaves
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

1. Cook chicken with oil, spices, and chopped garlic-cilantro until browned.

2. Add marinara and simmer. Stir in cream and fenugreek, then turn off heat.

3. Spread sauce on bottom of baking dish.

4. Layer uncooked noodles, butter chicken mix, mozzarella, garlic-cilantro.

5. Repeat layers and top with cheese and warm water.

6. Cover with foil and bake at 365°F for 40–45 minutes.

7. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Make the butter chicken up to 2 weeks ahead and freeze it.

For vegetarian version, substitute chicken with paneer or mushrooms.

Add lemon juice or chaat masala before serving to brighten the flavor.
