Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb button or cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal (optional)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 – 2 tablespoons milk to adjust consistency

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ranch dressing by whisking together mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, dill, parsley, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. Gradually add milk until desired consistency is reached. Refrigerate until serving.
  2. In one mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal (if using), garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, whisk eggs and milk together.
  3. Dip each mushroom slice in the egg mixture and then dredge it in the flour mixture. Let them rest for 5 minutes.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry mushroom slices in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Drain excess oil on paper towels and serve warm with ranch dressing.
