  • ½ cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium yellow onion (sliced)
  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms (sliced)
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the gravy by whisking together hot water, bouillon cubes, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, pepper, and cornstarch in a bowl. Set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef with breadcrumbs, ketchup, mustard, crushed bouillon cube, salt, pepper, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into six oval patties.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat with olive oil, brown the patties on both sides; remove them once fully cooked.
  5. Sauté sliced onions in the same skillet until soft; add minced garlic and butter for flavor.
  6. Deglaze the pan with broth before stirring in mushrooms and simmering until tender.
  7. Add reserved gravy mixture to the skillet and let simmer before returning patties to warm through.
